Delmiro Gouveia is a city located in the backlands of Alagoas, Brazil. Its history is closely linked to the figure of Delmiro Augusto da Cruz Gouveia, an entrepreneur and industrialist who was responsible for important changes in the region.

Delmiro Gouveia was born in 1863 in Ipu, Ceará, and had a great influence on the economic development of the region where the city is now located. In 1913, he founded the Agro Fabril Mercantil Company, which aimed to develop agriculture and industry in the region.
